๐ŸŽ“โœจ Our Third Graders Meet Their High School Mentors! โœจ๐ŸŽ“

This month, our third graders helped kick off the 2025โ€“2026 Adopt-A-Classroom Program! Through this special program, high school seniors from across the district โ€œadoptโ€ a third-grade classroom to build friendships and share inspiration for the future.

During their first visit, the seniors shared their dreams and career goals โ€” from becoming a neurologist to a nail technician โ€” and led fun, hands-on activities to help our students start thinking about their own hopes and goals.

Mill Stream third-grade teacher Sheryl Gray said,

โ€œThe kids loved connecting with the older students and had a lot of great questions. They were able to connect with them in a really positive way about their futures and goals. The high school students made the kids feel safe to share their dreams and reassured them that with hard work, they can accomplish anything and that the world needs people in all kinds of careers!โ€

Weโ€™re so proud of our third graders for dreaming big โ€” and so thankful to our high school seniors for being such inspiring mentors!

A Community Champion is a person who collaborates with a variety of partners to strengthen school, business, and non-profit relationships for the benefit of the community and our students.

Congratulations to Margaret Chase Smith Community School's first Community Champion, Aliza Jones! Aliza has strengthened relationships between MSAD 54 and the community by maintaining close collaboration with care providers and school teams, even as she transitioned to her new role as Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator. She consistently works across programs to ensure smooth communication, timely support, and continuity of care for students. Her commitment to problem-solving and fostering teamwork helps bridge school and community services so that students receive coordinated, high-quality support without delays.

Thank you for everything you do, Mrs. Jones!

Firefighter Rick cares for our students as much as they care for him. We appreciate that he returns each year to teach fire safety and spend time with our students.

MCSCS is fortunate to have such strong support from our community helpers. Thank you !

We were honored to welcome Senator Susan Collins to our beautiful new school in September!

It was an exciting opportunity to showcase our cutting-edge classrooms, innovative outdoor learning spaces, and the incredible work of our passionate educators. Senator Collins even spent time reading to students โ€” a highlight of the day for everyone!

Adding to the buzz, students from Somerset Career and Technical Centerโ€™s (SCTC) Digital Graphics program captured the visit while practicing their photography skills. Senator Collins also stopped by SCTCโ€™s Early Childhood Education & Teaching program, where high schoolers gain hands-on experience by partnering with elementary classrooms.

Weโ€™re so proud of our students and educators for making this visit such a memorable day!
